The AI-run marketing department for law firms

Where production meets judgment.

An AI engine runs your firm's entire marketing function. Senior legal marketing judgment sits on top. Less than half the cost of the loaded hire, per term.

Nothing ships without senior review

You can't sell slop anymore. The market won't buy it.

And you can't pay six figures for someone to sign up for tables and push logos onto sponsorships.

Here's the bet you're about to make: a full-priced hire, 18 to 24 months to find out if it works. Then, more often than you'd like, you run the search again.

How the engine works

AI does the labor. Judgment does the gating.

01 · The playbooks

Codified legal marketing judgment

Three decades of what works in law firm marketing — written into systems, not trapped in someone's head. The engine knows what a Chambers narrative needs, what partners will approve, and what clients ignore.

02 · The engine

Enterprise AI production

Content, submissions, bios, campaigns, and analytics produced at machine speed on enterprise-grade AI. Inside your systems where possible. Nothing trains on your data. Ever.

03 · The gate

Senior review, every time

Nothing reaches a partner or a client without senior sign-off. The machine accelerates. The judgment decides. That's the difference between production and slop.

The fork in front of you

Two ways to fill the seat. Only one of them has an end date.

The hire

~$175K/yr
Loaded cost · 18–24 month experiment
  • One person, no team, twelve partners with twelve opinions
  • Six months to learn your firm before anything ships
  • Strategist, writer, designer, and CRM admin in one body
  • If it fails: severance, a recruiter fee, and the search starts over

MatterValue

< ½
The loaded cost of the hire ($175K/yr) · $75K per six-month term · Scoreboard verdict at day 180
  • An AI engine that never sleeps, never quits, never learns on your dime
  • Senior judgment gating every deliverable
  • Works inside your systems. Nothing leaves your walls
  • Day 180 delivers a verdict, on the calendar. Renew on proof or part clean. No severance, no recruiter, no restart

Already have a department? Your team can deploy the engine too — it makes good marketers faster and frees your senior people for the work that needs them.

What you get

Everything AI can do. And the thing it can't.

Machine speed

The fungible work, accelerated
  • Content, alerts, and campaigns produced in days, not quarters
  • Bios, practice pages, and pitch materials at volume
  • Analytics and reporting the partners will actually read
  • Enterprise AI only. Nothing trains on your data. Ever

Original ideation

Where the judgment kicks in
  • Thought-leading content that sounds like your lawyers, not a machine
  • Client acquisition strategies built for your actual market
  • Lateral hire suggestions you haven't considered
  • Offerings your competitors haven't thought of yet

Director-level judgment. Coordinator-level cost. That's not a discount — that's what happens when the production is machine speed.

Our founder

Paul Ward

MatterValue has been in motion for decades. AI brought it to the next level.

With marketing chops from mega firms like Orrick and Gibson Dunn, to founding Law.com and selling it to ALM, Paul learned early the value of using technology to scale and economize law firm marketing.

For more than a decade he operated multiple firms' marketing departments or department functions, up to three firms simultaneously, leveraging technology. He was global head of PR for one firm while serving as CMO of another. At the same time.

In his most recent role at Davis Miles, PLLC, Paul was COO, CMO, and CIO simultaneously, leveraging technology. He helped grow the firm 36 percent in a five-year span. He knows how to get the most out of law firm roles.

With the advent of AI, Paul systematized those processes to do what he loves: level the playing field, so firms don't have to settle for an underqualified FTE when they can have sophisticated ideation and creation combined with rapid, efficient, accurate execution.

That system is MatterValue.
